As an artist, Allison looks outward for inspiration. She is very interested to knowing what others find enticing to look at. She keeps an amazingly open mind. “Everyone sees things differently; if I limit myself to viewing the world through my eyes then I am limiting the extent of my work.” She listens to colleagues and takes in the information, combines this knowledge with the beauty she sees and creates!
As a native Northern Californian, Allison relies on her history for ideas to paint. She grew up with art. Her family collected art and she was encouraged to enjoy the creative side of life. Academically she studied business and economics but always had a serious interest in the arts. Allison never tired of looking at rich oil paintings and knew that this would be her vocation some day.
Throughout her life Allison studied art as a hobby. After having three children, she started to take her classes and work shops more seriously. She found herself obsessed with painting and painted with enthusiasm everyday while her kids napped or played independently. “ Friends could not understand how I could paint with oils while my three young kids ran around the house!” She was hooked and the essence of being an artist was in her. |
